Week 28

This upcoming week we have the baptism of Constansa Ortiz planned for Saturday the 16th. She has been working very hard to prepare for this date and prayers on her behalf would be really appreciated. Either way, she has made so much progress in her life and way of living. It has been a privelege to meet her and help her along over these past 5 months. I pray she can take this step in her life and move forward from here on out. On Sunday someone talked in their talk about cutting the heads of Laban off in our daily lives. Maybe a bit gruesome at first thought, but it makes a lot of sense. It is much better that one sin or bad habit dies, than that a whole soul is lost and dwindles in unbelief or disobedience. Something I thought a lot about and am trying to apply. Making the little changes neccesary to improve as a person and as members of the church. Hey everyone! We are in Puerto Montt at the moment on our way to Osorno for leadership conference tomorrow. We flew up from Punta Arenas this morning. Don't have a ton of time, but here are a few questions and responses about my new area. I'm loving it here!  Love, Elder Brighton  1.How was your plane trip down to Punta Arenas? What did it feel like to travel alone or did another missionary fly down there with you at the same time? We traveled in a group of 5, 4 Elders and 1 hermana. I was the missionary with the most time in that group. The flight was 2 hours and a handful of minutes long. The airline is pretty similar to Frontier, as in you pay for everything up to your carry on bag. No free on board drinks.  2.It looks like the average temperatures are a bit cooler in Punta Arenas compared to Osorno. Does it feel different there? The weather is much different. week 26

Last Monday we had a family home evening with a new investigator, Florinda, and her daughter-in-law and granddaughter. She has been coming to church for a few weeks now and we've been trying to teach her for a while. It is difficult because she is single and lives alone. We finally got the chance to do it and it went super well. We were able to explain the authority that we have in a way that she accepted and understood. Now she is reading the Book of Mormon and absolutely loves it. She also loves coming to church and the classes there. If we can teach her more, I believe she will be baptized very soon. We set Constansa's baptismal date for the  16 of June ! She has changed so much in the time I have been here and worked with her. She is happier, talks to us more and appreciates our visits, and even her house is tidier and cleaner. She has been moving very slowly, but she has been moving.
