Week 13

My first cambio in the mission field left me with a new trainer, Elder Price! He has about 7 months in the mission and comes from California. He is 18, and the 2 of 7 children. I'm super excited for the time we have together here to work with the ward. His Spanish is great and he can communicate with anyone. I'm almost to that level, but at times have trouble understanding the Chilean language, which they claim as the Castillano language, or something like that. Just one of the branches of Spanish.

He is a great example for me and gives me something to shoot for in his language skills and confidence as a missionary. Our new mission plan for the ward got approved by the bishop yesterday and includes 4 points that we're putting into practice to start out:

1. Every 3rd Sunday of the month will be missionary themed and will include a song sung by the missionaries and talks by people associated with the mission work.

2. Visiting a member family for 15 minutes each day to introduce ourselves and share a scripture. This is to gain the confidence of the members and develop good relationships with them.

3. A ward activity each month that anyone can come to and have a good time.

4. Each family holds a family home evening at least once a month where they invite a nonmember friend or family to participate with them.

Our goal with this plan  is to excite the members and get them involved in the work. And to receive new investigators. Prayers for us to find new investigators would be appreciated.

We invited some boys who were on the street on Friday to come play soccer in the chapel that evening and they came and brought friends so there were 8 of them there! We go their phone numbers and invited them to come again the next week so hopefully we can become friends with them and teach them with time!

A struggle we are having is having second lessons with investigators, but Elder Price comes with a few ideas that we will start to put in practice that I think will help.

We have a strong ward here with a lot of potential, and we just have to work hard.

Thank you all for your love and support!

Love,
Elder Brighton
