week 26

Last Monday we had a family home evening with a new investigator, Florinda, and her daughter-in-law and granddaughter. She has been coming to church for a few weeks now and we've been trying to teach her for a while. It is difficult because she is single and lives alone. We finally got the chance to do it and it went super well. We were able to explain the authority that we have in a way that she accepted and understood. Now she is reading the Book of Mormon and absolutely loves it. She also loves coming to church and the classes there. If we can teach her more, I believe she will be baptized very soon.

We set Constansa's baptismal date for the 16 of June! She has changed so much in the time I have been here and worked with her. She is happier, talks to us more and appreciates our visits, and even her house is tidier and cleaner. She has been moving very slowly, but she has been moving. I believe that she can be baptized on that day and we are doing everything we can to help her prepare for that day. Yesterday we even made some pancakes in our house and brought them over there to help them get ready and get to church for the whole 3 hours. It was a success! She needs to be able to do it on her own, but now I understand a bit better about the struggle of getting two children up and ready for church in the mornings.

I studied about feeling the spirit, charity, and virtue a little this week. Galatians 5:22-23 explains some fruits of the spirit, and the verses before help us understand what is not of the >Spirit. Galatians 6:9 is another I liked.

Yesterday someone in class made the comment "Tenemos que tener un corazón dispuesto" Roughly translated meaning we have to have a willing heart. I just thought that was very true and I've been reflecting on what that means and want to invite you to do the same. I love you all lots.

Love,

Elder Brighton
