Hey everyone! We are in Puerto Montt at the moment on our way to Osorno for leadership conference tomorrow. We flew up from Punta Arenas this morning. Don't have a ton of time, but here are a few questions and responses about my new area. I'm loving it here!
 Love, Elder Brighton
1.How was your plane trip down to Punta Arenas? What did it feel like to travel alone or did another missionary fly down there with you at the same time? We traveled in a group of 5, 4 Elders and 1 hermana. I was the missionary with the most time in that group. The flight was 2 hours and a handful of minutes long. The airline is pretty similar to Frontier, as in you pay for everything up to your carry on bag. No free on board drinks.
2.It looks like the average temperatures are a bit cooler in Punta Arenas compared to Osorno. Does it feel different there? The weather is much different. They weren't lying when they say how windy it is down here. Thursday was even more so than normal and rumor has it it got up to 120 kilometers per hour. Pretty strong, but not strong enough to hold up my body weight sadly.
3.Are there more foreigners down in Southern Chile? Yes there are many. A ton of people walking around from all over the place. I met a guy in the airport from Israel and talked to him for a little bit in his broken English. He did not speak a word of Spanish. He is the CEO of a company he started 40 years ago and apparently it is doing very well as he showed me a picture of his very very large house, Cadillac SUV, Helicopter on it's landing pad at his house (he flies it) and a small yacht he has in Greece. He also told me about all the traveling he does with his wife.
4.Is fishing and seafood more prevalent in that part of the country? Will you be eating more seafood? So far just the normal chicken and rice. But we'll see what time brings. I haven't seen much though yet.
5.Who is your new companion? Where is he from and how long has he been out? Has he already been a Zone Leader? His name is Elder Goodman and he is from Orem Utah. He has 1 year 6 months in the mission and has been zone leader for a couple of cambios, but just one down here. We're going to work great together.
 6. How many companionships in your Zone? How many Elders vs Sisters? 7 companionships of Elders and 3 of hermanas
7.Did you have enough suitcase space to bring all of your stuff with you or did you have to leave some behind and “gift it” to others? I left my carry on sized suitcase in the mission home full of things I don't need down here like old journal, clothes and things.
8.Are there any mission cars down there? Do Zone Leaders drive cars? There are 4 or 5 mission vehicles. 2 belong to the office, 1 to to the senior couple, and the other 1 or 2 to president and his wife. I think they just have 1.
