Week 36

This week flew by rapidly like they always do! It was a week with its ups and downs like normal.

We had a couple of lessons with our investigators Gloria and her son Angel and they went very well. She is so ready to accept this Gospel, but it seems the adversary is not ready for it. She accepted a baptismal date for the 1 of September!! Only problem is that she has not yet assisted to church on Sunday so it is not an official fecha yet. She had planned to come, but Saturday night/Sunday morning had to go to the doctor because of a problem with her liver and was not able to come to church. But I know that when she starts to assist that she will love it and be welcome with open arms. We had two lessons with a member present, who is actually a relative of some kind and it helped so much. It always grows my testimony to hear the experiences and testimonies of the members here. Gloria and her 11 yr old son Angel will baptize soon and I am excited for them.

Darlin also accepted a baptism date for the 8 of September. She only turns 9 on August 19, but she is so intelligent and loves the gospel. She has told her mom she wants to be a missionary when she grows up. Her mom is less active, and her father a nonmember. Miguel, her father, is also listening to us and loves us but is more hesitant in accepting the Gospel completely. I think he is just a little scared of change but his daughter is going to be a great influence and help and strength to him and her mother. This sector is full of people ready to listen and accept the Gospel. We just have to work hard alongside the Señor and we will see the fruits of our labor soon.

This week we also got to do so much service! Heavenly Father really does answer prayers. I got to chop firewood for people 3 different times, help clean out a backyard and move branches out to be collected by the garbage a couple of times, and even got to learn how to mix cement in the way they do it here and help with a member who is putting in a new fence. The man who is in charge of that project is actually an inactive member it turns out who has desires to return to the church. Hopefully we can be a good influence on him!

Today for Pday we got to play soccer in the indoor gym in Osorno and after went and ate empanadas like we typically do! Lots of rain today, but that means a little less frío so I ma grateful for that. Hope you all are doing well and enjoying the last few weeks of summer vacation there!

Lots of love,

Elder Brighton
