Hi everyone,

I'm sorry for not writing a letter last week.

This week I wanted to first share a couple of things I have learned in my studies these past couple weeks. The first is from an article I read in an old Liahona about Satan. It explained that the strategies of him are:
  1. Temptation
  2. Lies and Deception
  3. Contention
  4. Discouragement
Anytime that we feel, participate or deal with these things, it is coming from him and we need to do our best to fight it and look for the light that comes from God.
Another interesting point is that the devil can not read our thoughts. That is a power that only God has. (DC 6:16) Keep that in mind, something worth pondering.

Other thought comes from Elder McKay's talk from General Conference. He taught us that God can give us immediate blessings to sustain us through difficult times. Some of those are:
  • peace
  • hope
  • kindness
  • love
  • calmness
  • courage
  • assurance
  • comfort
  • joy
To receive these things we must:
  • have patience
  • pray
    • with real intent
    • with full purpose of heart
  • have strength
  • surrender to the Lord
  • repent
  • harden not your heart
  • receive a Priesthood blessing
Just a couple of thoughts.

Another experience/lesson. Within this past couple of weeks, we have acquired, for the house, a new shower head, and 2 pillows to sleep on. Neither one of these things was very difficult to do, just required dedicating a little bit of time to doing it. Both of these small things have contributed greatly to my well being and happiness :)

My invitation to you is to take the time needed to fix that one small thing you're putting off because I know it will help you a lot in the long run and it is worth the time it takes. And after, let me know what it was!

As far as the people we are teaching goes: This week we had stake conference and Byron, Jeanette, Olga and her friend Constanza. We are teaching all of them and they are happy to have us helping and teaching them.

Mirta was unable to attend, but she has seen so many blessings in her life from living this Gospel so far. She has a long ways to go, but she is excited about it and wants it. She has the desire, which at times is so hard to find.

I'll leave it there since this is really long. But thank you all for your love.

Love from Osorno, Chile

Elder Brighton
