About 3 months ago we were approached by a man named Y in the street. At the time, he was very drunk but said that he loved "los mormones" and told us how much they had helped him and that it was the only church for him. We talked to him for a bit and that was that. We probably invited him to church on Sundays. During the next few days, we continued to run into him practically everyday (he was always drunk). At the end of the week, we were knocking doors, and waddaya know, Y opened up one of the doors. He let us inside and we talked a little, but it wasn´t a very spiritual environment.

From there, we saw him every now and then but never tried going back. Two or three weeks ago we were going by and he stopped us and said he wanted to go to church tomorrow and told us to pass by and pick him up. So, Sunday morning we went to his house to pick him up. He was there, calmly eating breakfast and we walked to church together. We got to church and sat down and the meeting started. We made it to the sacrament and then he said he didn´t feel very well. I asked if he could wait a few minutes longer and he said yes, but then it was obvious that he wasn´t going to make it. So we stood up and left in the middle and he went outside and dry hurled. He said that he was in a bad state (more or less drunk) but that he was going to be clean in a week and come back.

We didn´t have the chance to visit him, but the next Sunday he showed up halfway through the meeting in a better state. He didn´t make it through to the class but he showed up by himself.

Anyways, last night we went by his house to visit him and he was there, dressed nicely and very sober. He turned 40 this week and was with his mom for his birthday (we passed earlier in the week and he wasn´t home). We entered his house and sat down and talked. We taught about the Book of Mormon and read Alma 36 together. He tells us he has real desires to change and repent. The change we have seen now is hard to believe. He is a different person. We have another lesson planned with him tonight. I hope we can keep working with him and see his progress. It will be incredible to see a change like this, already has been.

In other news, Mirta is getting baptized tomorrow!! The Hermanas took over her teaching and have helped her prepare more. She had a dream that she needed to be baptized on the 16th, so tomorrow we will have the service and she asked me to baptize her. We do not have water in Osorno becasue of a massive spill of petroleo, so we will have the baptism in San Pablo, my sector a while back!

That´s a quick update on the work here. It´s amazing to see God doing His work.

Love
