Week 2

We have the opportunity each week to attend the temple because we live on its grounds. What a nice opportunity and blessing. There is also a distribution center right here so I was able to go and buy a small Spanish himno last P-day.

Funny story about last p-day, a lady (a member) stopped us on the street and said something about water. I at first thought she was asking about the water of life, Christ or something....but then she grabbed my companions water bottle and took a sip! Very interesting and funny. We proceeded to practice our Spanish and shared our testimonies with her, a goal we had that day and one we have often, to share the scriptures we're memorizing that day, week, etc

We also had the chance to share some #light the world cards with people last week and will do it again this week. It is much more fun to actually talk to real people  and not sit in a classroom all day.

We got to take pictures of the lights in the evening last p-day, a blessing from President Brady because we can only use cameras on p-day which starts and ends when the lights are off. They're pretty.

My companion and I started running for exercise hour because getting beat horribly by the Latinos in soccer was not helping us release frustration. We still play a little each day, and my companion got kicked yesterday and ruptured a blood vessel in his calf. He'll be okay if he takes it easy, but that mean less running and things during our exercise time for a while.

Elder Packer, of the Area 70, and his wife came and visited this week and shared a quick message, then shook all of our hands and had a quick conversation with each of us. His wife's Spanish is incredible. I can understand most Spanish, especially from gringos, but it is more difficult to understand Latinos, especially when they talk fast, and I cannot always respond with what I want to say. We did, however, commit one of our mock investigators to baptism. Even though it isn't real, the spirit we feel is still real.

I ran into the father of one of the girls I was friends with in the dorm at BYU yesterday. A group of us spent a night at his house during spring break and he arranged for us to stay in a cabin at his work during the time we spent in Jackson Hole, WY. It was really nice to see a familiar face even though I barely know him.

We read Romans 8:16, 31-32, 35-39. a super powerful scripture about love that I think everyone should read!
(16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?
35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
36 As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
37 Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
38 For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,
39 Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Time is going by and I hope that in no time I'll be out in the field doing the Lord's work. I love you all

Love,

Elder Brighton
