Week 20

We had some awesome experiences this week. We are working on visiting more and more less actives using a ward list and names from members, and we are already seeing a number of them start to come to church! It's a little different than baptizing someone, but it is still satisfying and super important. Monday night we were out in the rain looking for less actives and had two that were super receptive and we went back and visited them this week. We gave one a blessing, and invited the other to some activities of the church. One had a son that we are going to have a lesson with this week. During that time, we talked to a man I met in my first cambio and set up a time to visit him.

His name is Rodrigo and he is 48 years old. He has had his struggles and challenges in life, but he desperately wants to change and came to us to help him. I'm really excited to help him take the necessary steps to make a change in his life. His baptism date is set for the 5 of May right now, and he is already showing that he wants to make that happen. He came to church on Sunday and actually assisted to [attended] two sacrament meetings due to a bit of confusion with us having two wards in our chapel. We've got a teaching schedule set up with him and he has already showed that he is punctual and keeping commitments.

We had some more lessons with Oscar as well, a man that is 85 years old. He is slow when he talks and that is perfect for me! He is very very intelligent and wants to learn more, his health and memory just hold him back a little. But we have very spiritual lessons with him, and I have taken a big lead in teaching him too and it is wonderful.

Something we are working to do more is teach with questions- inspired questions. I think that is something we can always apply. Even just when talking to people. If we ask them how they are or whatever, and they can tell we really care, we can have better relationships. Applying that in the normal life is important.

I spoke in church yesterday and talked about how the family should participate in the missionary work in a ward. Reading the Book of Mormon, praying, and doing family home evenings, all as a family, were my main three points and I applied them to missionary work. I know these three things are super important. I know Heavenly Father loves us.

Have a wonderful week!! Lots of love,

Elder Brighton
