Week 32

This week flew by here in my new still relatively new sector. I am getting to know and already love the members, but it is going to take me awhile to get to know the streets and things of this sector. There are tons of houses and very little of anything else so that is great for the work we do! We have some campo on the edges and on clear days it is all so pretty. You can even see two volcanoes when the skies are clear.

We taught Gloria and her 12 yr old son Angel this week about the plan of salvation and they really enjoyed it and had lots of questions. I think they are going to progress and be strong members in this church, the circumstances seem to be that now is there time. We just have to do our part and work hard to accomplish the needs they have.

We are able to do a lot more service in this sector and I love it. We have chopped firewood a number of times and of course moving and stacking wood. They are small things, but it really is a help to these members and I know they appreciate it and I love doing it so it is a win win. I look forward to being able to help and grow closer to the members here. 

I am doing well and learning lots here and having lots of experiences. I hope you are all enjoying your summers and progressing as people. Sometimes it is hard to think of what to write after a week of lots of things that all seem so small but build together to make a busy week.

This past week things returned almost to normal in our work in the sector. We really were able to take advantage of the extra hour in the evenings. It's a valuable time. We also had our Book of Mormon activity and it went well. Luciano came and shared his testimony of the Book of Mormon. It was special and awesome.  We taught the papa of a member here who is 17 and it was really great. His name is Jorge and we hope to see him progress well.  This week I leave Chile and return home to Texas. I will miss all of what the mission has been. But it has prepared me for what comes next: endure to the end! I am excited for the adventures ahead. The experiences I have had here, and the people I have met have changed who I am and I am very grateful for everything I have accomplished here. 10-21-19

This week started off well on Monday night. We found an antiguo we wanted to go by in the area book and we knocked and talked to the lady who came out. She's a member turns out, and her husband is not. He has had many previous interactions with missionaries but never acted much before. Well, a minute or two after talking to her outside, he pulls up- home early from work (a very nice "coincidence"). I asked if we could go inside to meet them better and they said yes. We talked and got to know them for a bit, and the shared lesson 1. It was an incredible lesson and we even invited him to be baptized if he received an answer. He said he would! The catch was that later we asked him if he would pray to receive an answer and he responded that he would if he felt like it. He was unwilling to act to receive the answer. Week 40

The month of August has passed and with it I hope the cold and rain too! That is a hope in vain, but we did have some beautiful days this week and the sun is out now. Spring is coming and lots of trees are budding out in flowers. I might have to bust out my short sleeve shirts for when I shed my jacket in the afternoons. We had a lot of opportunities to teach our investigators and also to get to know them a little better. Gloria taught me how to make sopapillas, and Raul and Ana showed us around their home and kitchen where they make sausages to sell as their source of income. We also had the chance to offer little acts of service to Moises and various hermanas in the ward with different things. The better I get to know and love these people, the more my desires to help them grow. It is such a grand opportunity to meet and serve so many people.  I try everyday to better myself and search to do what the Lord wants me to do.
