Week 37

Yesterday we had 3 of our investigators come to church despite the change in time and losing an hour of sleep. That was super exciting for us. That means that 2 of our investigators now have dates set for their baptisms! If everything goes smoothly, Darlin and Gloria (probably with her son Angel) will be getting baptized the beginning of September! We are so excited for them and your prayers on their behalf would be appreciated.

We had a week of almost all beautiful weather here. Hopefully that is a sign that winter is coming to a close!! We've still got a little longer to survive though. With the time change, we will have an extra hour of sunlight while we are out and about so that will be a blessing.

We got to start teaching 3 new investigators this week. Two of them live in a part of our sector that is more countrysideish and we were contacting there for the first time the other week and finally found them in their house with time to listen to us. It became clear that we were there as an answer to their prayers. God really does listen to us and wants to help us. He will answer our prayers if we ask with faith. Sometimes the answers don't come as we expect though....

An example of that that I have seen is what happened with Wisky, a recent convert from Haiti. He has been searching unsuccessfully for work for 2 months. We taught him regularly that if he kept keeping the commandments that God was going to provide for him as God did for Lehi and his family int he dessert. I was worried for him because he often goes days without anything to eat., We helped where we could but as missionaries there is only so much we could do. I decided to fast for him that he could find a job.

A couple weeks later he kind of disappeared for a while. This week we found out why- he has moved to Brasil. He made contact with the church there and has a job. God listens! We're (hopefully) not always going to get sent to Brasil, but He will help us out. He takes care of us when we live his commandments and seek Him. It is a little warmer in Brasil too so I am sure he is comfortable there too.

Don't forget the power of fervent prayer!

Love you all

Elder Brighton
