week 55

Big news of the week: My magnet name tag arrived that I ordered 9 months ago!!! Not that big of a deal, but the anticipation has finally come to an end. Took it out for a spin today and it performed well while we played volleyball with a group of missionaries.

Important things that happened this week: We found and taught 6 new investigators this week. We have been praying for and focusing on that a lot and it has been happening. Our focus now needs to shift a little bit on really helping these people progress and keep commitments while still searching for and finding more people to teach. The key to being a successful missionary (or anything) is being able to focus on more than one thing at a time. That is a teaching from our mission president's wife.

We are getting into the Christmas season here and have quite a nice tree set up with lights and decorations donated from a less active family we are working with. Don't forget about the church's LIGHT THE WORLD initiative that they do each year. This week is illuminating our family! I guess the right way to say it is lighting our family, but the word in Spanish is iluminar so there ya go. My English has been deteriorating significantly recently, especially in pronunciation.

And in other news: we killed our first rat. We had heard them scurrying around above us in the roof for a while so after getting woken up a couple times in the night we decided to try and do something about it and talked to our dueño. He put out some poison and we got one! Luckily the local cat got to it before we did and ate half of it so we didn't have to see the full size of it. It was not small.

I hope all is well at home and all are enjoying the Christmas season! Jesus Christ is our Savior and we have this special time to really focus more on Him. Use it well!

Love,

Elder Brighton
