Week 4

I hope the Holidays go well for everyone!

Our Christmas Eve and Christmas here were wonderful and special. Christmas Eve we had a fancy dinner complete with steak, mashed potatoes, and even cheesecake. They feed us so well everyday but that was extra special.

I spoke in Sacrament meeting that day and shared a talk about baptism and how we need to remember our covenants and rededicate ourselves each week. Especially being full time missionaries the promises we make when we are set apart are very similar. It was all in Spanish of course, and I got lots of compliments from the Latinos.

Christmas morning we got to sleep in an extra hour and then had a huge pancake breakfast with the help of the American couple temple missionaries here. I'm grateful for their help and all they did to make the day special for us. Each one of the missionaries even received a gift from the president, a Chile beanie, and a chocolate bar. Complete with lots of food, devotionals and time to relax- it was a great Christmas. My district even won a competition to see who could find the most different names for Christ in the Book of Mormon. We found 87.... goes to show the Book of Mormon really is all about Him.

Our new roommates like to sleep early too, so that has been a blessing to get some extra sleep at night. I'm already creating friendships with the new missionaries here and I love just chatting to them in Spanish and learning new words.

We went proselyting by ourselves the other day and met a man named Manny from the Dominican Republic, He accepted a Book of Mormon from us and we chatted for awhile. He was here in Chile for work, and loved baseball. He even knew all of the Baseball players i could think of from the DR! A fun experience. We chatted with a couple other people too and I really enjoyed it.

The next day we went on splits with Missionaries from the Santiago West Mission. That was a really cool experience to see what we'll be doing each day really soon! My companion, Elder Hale from California, said he wished he would have spent more time talking to youth and their friends so I can learn from that. He is going home in two weeks. Our experiences in Osorno will be different from the city here, but the Gospel is still the same.

We had another lesson with our progressing investiagtors and I shared the First Vision. The Spirit was present so strong and testified that it really did happen and that Joseph Smith is a true prophet. I'm grateful for our prophet and apostles today.

I hope everyone is doing well. Happy New Year! Make goals that will help you all grow in the Gospel and in whatever else you want to focus on.

Love from Chile,

Elder Brighton
