Week 6

Dear Family of Elder Brighton

We are pleased to inform that your son has arrived safe and sound and smiling to the Chile Osorno Mission.  It was a pleasure for us to greet him upon his arrival and feel his desire to serve.  Enclosed is a picture that we took with him shortly after his arrival.  He participated in a short orientation regarding mission procedures, customs of the country, etc.  Elder Brighton has been assigned to work in the city of Valdivia  with Elder Azervedo as his companion.

Your son's address during his time in the mission will be:

                                                Elder Alex Brighton
                                      Chile Osorno Misión
                                       Casilla 7-0   Region X
                                      Osorno, Chile

We feel an overwhelming love for all of our missionaries and are truly happy to have the opportunity to work with Elder Brighton.  We appreciate your willingness to share him with us as he works as a missionary and ambassador for the Lord in Chile.  Sharing the gospel with these deserving children of our Father in Heaven will certainly bring great joy and satisfaction to him and to you as well.  Thank you so much for helping him get to this point.

Your love, interest, and support will be of great help to him.  Please write him letters of encouragement  regularly.  We have received instructions from the Area Presidency to not allow ¨chatting¨ with family and friends when our missionaries send emails.  Please help your son be obedient to this mission rule.

If you do send a package, please use only the US Postal Service and expect at least 6 – 12 weeks for delivery. Receiving packages and distributing them to the different zones has proven to be time consuming, complicated and costly.  We were pleased to find that most things your missionary may need are readily available in Chile. Please don´t send food products, vitamins, medicines, makeup or any form of powder through the mail because it will be held in Customs causing more delays.

The missionary work is progressing rapidly here in southern Chile. We hope that you will share in his exciting mission experiences as he writes to you weekly and keeps you informed of  his challenges and achievements.

Sincerely,

President Mark P. Isom and Sister Cynthia D Isom
