Week 48

It was such a blessing and opportunity to get to go to the temple dedication this weekend. The Spirit was so strong and it is the closest I will get to being able to assist to the temple during my time here. I really did feel so much better during and after. The House of the Lord has power, even many miles away being transmitted by satellite. Make the time to go, it is worth it and the blessings are real for you and for others on the other side.

One really cool experience we had this week was Friday night. We had a really good lesson with some investigators and answered so many questions they had. But it ended late at about 9:55 and we're supposed to be in the house at the latest 10 pm. We started walking back as quick as we could and took a route that we don't normally take because it has more light. While walking a colectivo pulled up. I didn't recognize at first, but it was our elder quorum president and he told us to hop in and he drove us home. Don't know if anything bad would have happened to us because our sector can be dangerous at times, but it was nice. We pulled up to our house right at 10:00 pm. It was just such a unique exérience because nothing like that has happened here before. We'd never even seen him working before and the chance that we crossed paths was so small. It was a miracle and gift from God. Perhaps also a blessing from involving this member in the missionary work more and taking him with us to teaching appointments.

Other big news: We Have CAMBIOS.

I didn't expect that at all. I will be going to San Pablo, a little pueblito about 40 minutes outside of Osorno. The sector was closed last cambio and before that hermanas were there. I will enter as part of a whitewash and will be training again. A new Elder straight from the MTC, who is originally from Utah. More on him and the sector next week!

This past week things returned almost to normal in our work in the sector. We really were able to take advantage of the extra hour in the evenings. It's a valuable time. We also had our Book of Mormon activity and it went well. Luciano came and shared his testimony of the Book of Mormon. It was special and awesome.  We taught the papa of a member here who is 17 and it was really great. His name is Jorge and we hope to see him progress well.  This week I leave Chile and return home to Texas. I will miss all of what the mission has been. But it has prepared me for what comes next: endure to the end! I am excited for the adventures ahead. The experiences I have had here, and the people I have met have changed who I am and I am very grateful for everything I have accomplished here. This week started off well on Monday night. We found an antiguo we wanted to go by in the area book and we knocked and talked to the lady who came out. She's a member turns out, and her husband is not. He has had many previous interactions with missionaries but never acted much before. Well, a minute or two after talking to her outside, he pulls up- home early from work (a very nice "coincidence"). I asked if we could go inside to meet them better and they said yes. We talked and got to know them for a bit, and the shared lesson 1. It was an incredible lesson and we even invited him to be baptized if he received an answer. He said he would! The catch was that later we asked him if he would pray to receive an answer and he responded that he would if he felt like it. He was unwilling to act to receive the answer. Week 40

The month of August has passed and with it I hope the cold and rain too! That is a hope in vain, but we did have some beautiful days this week and the sun is out now. Spring is coming and lots of trees are budding out in flowers. I might have to bust out my short sleeve shirts for when I shed my jacket in the afternoons. We had a lot of opportunities to teach our investigators and also to get to know them a little better. Gloria taught me how to make sopapillas, and Raul and Ana showed us around their home and kitchen where they make sausages to sell as their source of income. We also had the chance to offer little acts of service to Moises and various hermanas in the ward with different things. The better I get to know and love these people, the more my desires to help them grow. It is such a grand opportunity to meet and serve so many people.  I try everyday to better myself and search to do what the Lord wants me to do.
