Hey everybody!

We had a fun week this week, as always :) At the beginning of the week we went to Valdivia for the zone conference. That was my first time being back there since I served there almost a year ago. It was crazy to get to see it again. I didn't get to visit my sector or anything but I did see a couple of the members i knew.

We stayed the night with the Zone Leaders after doing intercambios in their sector. We ran into one of my old investigators that had moved to that sector so maybe they will start teaching them again! We also did some service for a member and chopped some wood. Not sure if I should share this, but I broke her axe...... Make that 3 axes I have broken on the mission during intercambios, 4 in total. oops. Elder Rojas cooked us up a delicious Peruvian dish, aji de gallina, or something like that. 

We did a couple more intercambios and I learned a lot. One thing was the importance of telling the truth. It is a commandment to tell the truth and be honest. Lying is sin. I understood that but because of the intercambio I was able to study that a little more and help another missionary understand that better. 

Other news of the week: I have a new companion starting Wednesday. Elder Zamudio!

We had a surprise person in the church yesterday and that was awesome. We hadn't been able to teach them for a while but they came to curch all by themselves! It was great.

This past week things returned almost to normal in our work in the sector. We really were able to take advantage of the extra hour in the evenings. It's a valuable time. We also had our Book of Mormon activity and it went well. Luciano came and shared his testimony of the Book of Mormon. It was special and awesome.  We taught the papa of a member here who is 17 and it was really great. His name is Jorge and we hope to see him progress well.  This week I leave Chile and return home to Texas. I will miss all of what the mission has been. But it has prepared me for what comes next: endure to the end! I am excited for the adventures ahead. The experiences I have had here, and the people I have met have changed who I am and I am very grateful for everything I have accomplished here. This week started off well on Monday night. We found an antiguo we wanted to go by in the area book and we knocked and talked to the lady who came out. She's a member turns out, and her husband is not. He has had many previous interactions with missionaries but never acted much before. Well, a minute or two after talking to her outside, he pulls up- home early from work (a very nice "coincidence"). I asked if we could go inside to meet them better and they said yes. We talked and got to know them for a bit, and the shared lesson 1. It was an incredible lesson and we even invited him to be baptized if he received an answer. He said he would! The catch was that later we asked him if he would pray to receive an answer and he responded that he would if he felt like it. He was unwilling to act to receive the answer. Week 40

The month of August has passed and with it I hope the cold and rain too! That is a hope in vain, but we did have some beautiful days this week and the sun is out now. Spring is coming and lots of trees are budding out in flowers. I might have to bust out my short sleeve shirts for when I shed my jacket in the afternoons. We had a lot of opportunities to teach our investigators and also to get to know them a little better. Gloria taught me how to make sopapillas, and Raul and Ana showed us around their home and kitchen where they make sausages to sell as their source of income. We also had the chance to offer little acts of service to Moises and various hermanas in the ward with different things. The better I get to know and love these people, the more my desires to help them grow. It is such a grand opportunity to meet and serve so many people.  I try everyday to better myself and search to do what the Lord wants me to do.
