Hey everybody!

We are so busy here but I am doing really well. This week we had the chance to fly down to Punta Arenas to do intercambios with the Zone Leaders. I felt so happy and comfortable to be there again, despite the cold winter weather that has already set in down there.  We had some really great teaching opportunities, including finding a woman named Ilene. She accepted the message we taught her and committed to reading a chapter of the Book of Mormon right away. I'm grateful we got to find and teach her!

This week we are going to have a few more intercambios with Elders from Valdivia, and will also be going to the conference there tomorrow. 

Please keep praying for Mirta and Mariela. They are both progressing and we are expecting baptisms very soon!

We also taught Byron for the first time this week. He is 10, but has already made it to Alma in the Book of Mormon. The problem was that his parents didn't want us teaching him, but it looks like they are okay with it now!

This past week things returned almost to normal in our work in the sector. We really were able to take advantage of the extra hour in the evenings. It's a valuable time. We also had our Book of Mormon activity and it went well. Luciano came and shared his testimony of the Book of Mormon. It was special and awesome.  We taught the papa of a member here who is 17 and it was really great. His name is Jorge and we hope to see him progress well.  This week I leave Chile and return home to Texas. I will miss all of what the mission has been. But it has prepared me for what comes next: endure to the end! I am excited for the adventures ahead. The experiences I have had here, and the people I have met have changed who I am and I am very grateful for everything I have accomplished here. 10-21-19

This week started off well on Monday night. We found an antiguo we wanted to go by in the area book and we knocked and talked to the lady who came out. She's a member turns out, and her husband is not. He has had many previous interactions with missionaries but never acted much before. Well, a minute or two after talking to her outside, he pulls up- home early from work (a very nice "coincidence"). I asked if we could go inside to meet them better and they said yes. We talked and got to know them for a bit, and the shared lesson 1. It was an incredible lesson and we even invited him to be baptized if he received an answer. He said he would! The catch was that later we asked him if he would pray to receive an answer and he responded that he would if he felt like it. He was unwilling to act to receive the answer. We are going to continue to try to work with him because I know he can receive the answer, he simply doesn't want to. It's sad what he is missing out on wi

Week 40

The month of August has passed and with it I hope the cold and rain too! That is a hope in vain, but we did have some beautiful days this week and the sun is out now. Spring is coming and lots of trees are budding out in flowers. I might have to bust out my short sleeve shirts for when I shed my jacket in the afternoons. We had a lot of opportunities to teach our investigators and also to get to know them a little better. Gloria taught me how to make sopapillas, and Raul and Ana showed us around their home and kitchen where they make sausages to sell as their source of income. We also had the chance to offer little acts of service to Moises and various hermanas in the ward with different things. The better I get to know and love these people, the more my desires to help them grow. It is such a grand opportunity to meet and serve so many people.  I try everyday to better myself and search to do what the Lord wants me to do.
