Whelp, we just finished a meeting with a couple of guys from Salt Lake about getting the phones here in our mission. It's basically left in our hands to figure it all out. A great lesson in self-reliance. *nervous chuckle*

These next couple of weeks are going to be pretty crazy for us. In 10 days the new president arrives, and the following week we will be traveling to visit all of the zones in the mission. I apologize in advance if my writing becomes scarce.

We had a fun week with various intercambios and learned a lot. Had a great experience in Valdivia with setting goals and doing all the possible to complete them. We wanted to find a new person to teach in the little time we had and we had a set a goal for the number of contacts so we were contacting and knocked on a door and it opened. She invited us right in and we were able to teach about the Restoration and she was so happy and wanted to learn more. Now we gotta find more people like that in our sector here!!

Ricardo is doing well, he visited a child in another city and attended church there. We are working with Mariela still. I think the key there will be having the support of her two sons. If not, she will not be able to progress very well. We need to focus on finding more people to teach too.

This past week things returned almost to normal in our work in the sector. We really were able to take advantage of the extra hour in the evenings. It's a valuable time. We also had our Book of Mormon activity and it went well. Luciano came and shared his testimony of the Book of Mormon. It was special and awesome.  We taught the papa of a member here who is 17 and it was really great. His name is Jorge and we hope to see him progress well.  This week I leave Chile and return home to Texas. I will miss all of what the mission has been. But it has prepared me for what comes next: endure to the end! I am excited for the adventures ahead. The experiences I have had here, and the people I have met have changed who I am and I am very grateful for everything I have accomplished here. This week started off well on Monday night. We found an antiguo we wanted to go by in the area book and we knocked and talked to the lady who came out. She's a member turns out, and her husband is not. He has had many previous interactions with missionaries but never acted much before. Well, a minute or two after talking to her outside, he pulls up- home early from work (a very nice "coincidence"). I asked if we could go inside to meet them better and they said yes. We talked and got to know them for a bit, and the shared lesson 1. It was an incredible lesson and we even invited him to be baptized if he received an answer. He said he would! The catch was that later we asked him if he would pray to receive an answer and he responded that he would if he felt like it. He was unwilling to act to receive the answer. Week 40

The month of August has passed and with it I hope the cold and rain too! That is a hope in vain, but we did have some beautiful days this week and the sun is out now. Spring is coming and lots of trees are budding out in flowers. I might have to bust out my short sleeve shirts for when I shed my jacket in the afternoons. We had a lot of opportunities to teach our investigators and also to get to know them a little better. Gloria taught me how to make sopapillas, and Raul and Ana showed us around their home and kitchen where they make sausages to sell as their source of income. We also had the chance to offer little acts of service to Moises and various hermanas in the ward with different things. The better I get to know and love these people, the more my desires to help them grow. It is such a grand opportunity to meet and serve so many people.  I try everyday to better myself and search to do what the Lord wants me to do.
